Another key factor is the personal fit. Dr. Martin suggested having an initial consultation call to see if you feel heard and respected. "Therapy is a relationship," she noted. "If you don't feel safe or understood after a few sessions, it is okay to look for someone else."
Finally, she recommended checking online directories that verify licenses and reading reviews from other clients. Finding the right support takes time, but Dr. Martin stressed that the effort is worth it. The goal is not just to find any therapist, but to find one who can truly help you grow.
